Komatsu has notched a major milestone for its autonomous hauling equipment.
According to the company, its fleet of more than 750 autonomous haul trucks worldwide has hauled more than 10 billion metric tonnes. Additionally, ten of Komatsu’s autonomous haul trucks have achieved 100,000 autonomous hours.
The company launched its FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System, also known as the (AHS), in 2008 and has continued to evolve it to meet customers’ evolving needs and demand for tailored autonomous solutions.
“Since paving the way with the first commercial autonomous haulage operation in the marketplace 17 years ago, Komatsu is proud to continue being an industry leader in autonomy,” said Martin Cavassa, Autonomous Systems business development manager at Komatsu.
“Our highly skilled AHS team comprises of application and technical experts, as well as training and support specialists who possess in-depth knowledge and expertise. In every engagement, we bring that expertise to the table to help our customers achieve all the value that FrontRunner can deliver to their operations.”
According to Komatsu, FrontRunner offers customers predictable fleet management, dependable production and enhanced component lifecycle. It also offers customers access to Komatsu’s experienced personnel, processes and technological expertise.
Customers using the AHS have told Komatsu that they have seen significant improvements in tire life and braking life as well as reduction in overall maintenance.
