Aptella has been recognised with a prestigious award by TAFE Queensland for its unique apprenticeship program.

TAFE Queensland awarded the technology solutions provider the Apprentice Employer of the Year Award at the SkillsTech CSQ awards 2024. The award recognised Aptella’s national field apprenticeship program, which aims to support and grow new field technicians in the industry.

“This program reflects our dedication and commitment to nurturing talent, advancing skill development, and empowering the next generation of industry experts through impactful and meaningful learning experiences,” said Bernadette Taoro Ashin, executive manager for people and culture at Aptella.

“If we want to continue to create the very best experiences for our customers this is a crucial part of that. By supporting and training upcoming field technicians, we are investing our time and expertise back into our industry, and that’s the right thing to do.”

Aptella co-created the program with TAFE Queensland to teach targeted skills, including high-precision machine control technology for heavy earthmoving equipment.  Six apprentices are enrolled in the course and employed in all major cities in Australia. The training program incorporates a mix of online, face-to-face, and on-site learning.

“We want to ensure our field technicians are the best of the best and they have the knowledge base to make them the most sought after in the industry. As part of the program we recruited our leading field managers and senior technicians who dedicated their time and expertise to creating and delivering these apprenticeships,” Taoro Ashin said.

“We’re so honoured to have been recognised with this award. We hope to launch the second version of this programme early next year, incorporating automation as part of the training.”

Shawn O’Sullivan, business manager at TAFE Queensland, said the partnership between the two organisations had been beneficial.

“Our partnership with Aptella enables us to work closely with industry and modern technology to maintain currency and deliver the highest quality training that we can for TAFE Queensland and the employers,” he said.
