Businesses announce temporary changes for Cyclone Alfred

Australian construction material producers have announced a series of temporary closures in response to Cyclone Alfred.  

Holcim Australia and Heidelberg Materials Australia are among those businesses that have announced temporary changes in order to preserve the safety of their employees and sites.  

Heidelberg Materials Australia has announced all of its Queensland and Northern New South Wales will be closed and open on March 10.  

“Safety is our utmost priority. This closure ensures we can perform site safety inspections at each of our operations,” the company said in a post.  

“All orders on Monday for Queensland and Northern NSW, should be considered ‘to be confirmed’. We will keep you updated as the event progresses. Should you need any further information, please contact your Heidelberg Materials contact.”  

Holcim Australia has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of its employees, customers, and broader community, including temporary closures.  

“While our physical sites are temporarily closed, our customer service and sales teams are working from home to ensure we continue supporting our valued customers. We remain committed to minimising disruptions and maintaining service where possible,” Holcim Australia stated. 

“We are closely monitoring official weather updates and will reopen sites as soon as it is safe to do so. For urgent inquiries, please reach out to your Holcim contact or the Holcim customer service team.  

“The safety of our employees, customers, and the community remains our top priority. Please follow all local authority guidance and stay safe. 

We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves. Thank you for your understanding and support.” 

The following Holcim Australia have been impacted by site closures. The sites were closed from March 5 and are planned to open on March 10 per its normal trading hours.  

South East Queensland  

  • Office: Milton, Brisbane Office  
  • Quarries: Bli Bli Quarry, Sunrock Quarry, Petrie Quarry, Beenleigh Quarry and Lytton Sand. 
  • Concrete plants: Caboolture, Brendale, Narangba, Geebung, Eagle Farm, Murarrie, Acacia Ridge, Cleveland, Beenleigh, Darra | Raceview, Boonah, Wacol, Beaudesert, Burleigh, Coomera, Southport, Jacobs Well, Noosa, Caloundra, Kawana, Beerwah, Gympie and Tweed Heads. 
  • Humes sites: Ipswich 

Northern NSW sites:  

  • Quarries – Northern Rivers Region: Dunloe Quarry, Teven Quarry, Ballina Sand and Gravel. Closed from March 5 (1pm AEDT) Nand planned to reopen on March 10 with normal trading hours.  
  • Quarries – Coffs Harbour Region: Boambee Quarry and Coffs Harbour Sand and Gravel. Planned to close from March 6 (12pm AEDT) and reopen on March 10 per normal trading hours.  
  • Concrete Plants – Northern Rivers: Ballina Concrete Plant, Lismore Concrete Plant, Brunswick Heads, Casino and Byron Bay. Sites closed from COB on March 5 and planned to reopen on March 10 with normal trading hours.  
  • Concrete Plants – Coffs Habour Region: Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Grafton and Yamba. Closed from March 6 (12pm AEDT) and planned to reopen with normal trading hours on March 10. 

Holcim Australia advises customers with urgent inquiries to contact the customer service team on Concrete: 13 11 88, Aggregates: 1300 555 277 and Humes: 1300 361 601.
