Holcim has expanded its global portfolio by signing an agreement to acquire Latin American concrete producer Tensolite.
Tensolite specialises in precast and pre-stressed concrete construction systems, with plants and a distribution network in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
“By acquiring Tensolite, we are further expanding our Solutions & Products portfolio in Latin America and globally,” Holcim regional head for Latin America Oliver Osswald said.
“Due to its leadership in innovative precast and pre-stressed construction systems, Tensolite will be an important part of our continued expansion into the most attractive markets, while offering synergies with other other business units such as our network of yard stores, Disensa.
“I am excited to further grow Tensolite and to welcome all 155 employees to the Holcim family.”
The acquisition forms part of Holcim’s Strategy 2025 to expand its Solutions and products business to 30 per cent of Group net sales. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and clearance but is expected to close in later in quarter two of this year.
Tensolite was founded in 1979 and has become for its concrete construction systems and customised projects including large civil works including granstands and walkways.

NEW BOARD MEMBER
Holcim also announced a member proposal for its board of directors.
Catrin Hinkel, who is the current Microsoft Switzerland chief executive, been proposed t join the board as an independent member. She will stand for election alongside Michael H. McGarry in May.
All other members are standing for re-election while Jan Jenisch is proposed for relelection as board chairman.
With the proposed nominations, the Holcim Board will comprise 11 members, 10 are independent.
Catrin Hinkel has been Microsoft Switzerland’s chief executive since May 2021. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the tech industry across various organisations.
