Peter Andrew has announced he will retire from the industry after more than two decades as part of Hills Group and Hills Quarry Products.
The group director of Hills Quarry Products will step down from his position at the end of the year but maintain an advisory role through 2025.
Peter Andrew began his journey with the company in 1999 before becoming the business development manager for Hills Quarry Products’ aggregate and concrete business in 2007. His rise continued as he became divisional director for quary products in 2010, general manager in 2013 before entering his current role in 2014.
He is a member of the Institute of Quarrying and the Institute of Waste Management, represents the company at the Mineral Products Association, and is an industry representative on the board of QSRMC.
In a statement, Andrew reflected fondly on his time at the company and within the wider aggregates industry.
“It has been an honour and a privilege working with the talented and dedicated team within Hills Quarry Products,” he said.
“With a framework for future growth in place and the team as strong as it has ever been, now is the right time to announce my plans to step down.
“I will be working with my replacement and the wider Hills Quarry Products team to ensure a smooth handover and seamless transition for our customers.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the kind words that I have already received from my peers and friends in the industry. It is much appreciated.”
Under Andrew’s watch, Hills Quarry Products has grown and achieved some key milestones. Last year, the company opened its eighth concrete plant while it received international attention for its involvement in a major fossil discovery.
It also received approval to transform a former RAAF airfield in Down Ampney into a quarry for sand and gravel extraction.
Mike Hill, chief executive of The Hills Group said the company wished Pete Andrew a happy retirement.
“This is a significant move for both Pete and The Hills Group. The shareholders, board and employees at Hills wish Pete a well-deserved retirement spending time with family and managing his farm in Wiltshire,” he said.
“Pete has been a key figure within the business and the quarrying sector for many years and will be missed by colleagues, customers, and the supply chain alike.”
