Vulcan Materials has expanded its operations in the United States with a further acquisition.

FMI Capital Advisors confirmed that Whitaker Contracting Corporation has been acquired by Vulcan Materials. The acquisition includes four quarries, three asphalt plants, and Whitaker’s contracting and pavement preservation business.

“FMI leveraged their deep knowledge in the construction materials space to secure a successful partnership with Vulcan,” Whitaker Contracting executive vice president Lenn Morris said.

“Their role was pivotal in communicating the value of our business to potential buyers, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.”

Whitaker Contracting was established in 1957 and made its name as an aggregate and asphalt producer alongside its asphalt paving and maintenance contractor service.
