Construction has commenced on Mandorah’s new multi-million-dollar marine facilities.
SMC Marine has begun construction on the project as part of stage one. The Northern Territory government estimates that the project will create more than 110 new jobs.
Construction activity underway includes preparing the site and stockpiling quarry materials to enable staged construction for the project and constructing the southern breakwater.
The project will include two breakwater structures, enhanced disability access, a redesigned and upgraded car park, a new terminal building and a new boat ramp.
“It is great to see the upgrades to our marine facilities at Mandorah moving forward, this progress is the culmination of years of consultation with the communities, and the facilities are in line with community expectations,” Daly MP Dheran Young said.
