Komatsu has announced its acquisition of German mining manufacturer GHH Group GmbH to boost its underground mining portfolio.
GHH specialises in mining, tunnelling and special civil engineering equipment, including loaders and articulated dump trucks, as well as aftermarket parts.
Peter Salditt, president of Komatsu’s mining business division, said the company was pleased to complete this acquisition.
“The talented GHH staff are now part of Komatsu and our new combined team will work together to expand offerings and increase customer access to products in new territories,” he said.
“With this strategic investment in leading products, solutions and talent, Komatsu is excited to further strengthen its position in underground mining as it seeks to support new and existing customer operations worldwide.”
The deal will also further Komatsu’s presence with customers in global markets with GHH’s factories and rebuild facilities found in Europe, Southern Africa, India and Chile.
The new acquisition comes days after Komatsu announced an expansion of its facilities in Arizona which will be completed in 2026.
