Hills Quarry Products has unveiled its plans to build a new concrete plant and soft sand extraction site in Oxfordshire.
The company submitted its application to the Oxfordshire County Council to create the facility near Tubney. If the council approved the application, 900,000 tonnes would be extracted over the next 18 years.
“The site, which will be called Tubworth Quarry, will replace the nearby Upwood Quarry after completion of extraction there and will be worked in eight phases, starting in the southeast corner and working northwards,” the company said.
“Restoration is planned immediately after each extraction phase is completed and will provide agricultural and ecological benefits to the area, including a wide range of new habitats.”
Hills Quarry Products has been busy securing new sites for material extraction. Last year, the company received approval to turn a former RAAF airfield in Down Ampney into a sand and gravel quarry.
