Cemex has confirmed a joint venture agreement with Couch Aggregates and Premier Holdings to expand its aggregates business.
Couch Aggregates is a US-based sand and gravel supplier with a focus on the southeast market while Premier Holdings is a marine bulk distributor which operates Gulf Coast marine terminals.
With the joint venture, Cemex will strengthen its production, distribution and sale of sand, gravel and limestone in the mid-south region of the United States.
“This joint venture will create significant opportunities for both parties by utilising vertical integration and leveraging each other’s capabilities for growth,” Cemex US president Jaime Muguiro said.
“We remain committed to increasing our capacity to serve the U.S. market with more sustainable and innovative solutions.”
Since 2020, Cemex has focused on rebalancing its portfolio towards the U.S., increasing its percentage of EBITDA contribution from 24 per cent to 29 per cent. The company intends to increase this number to 40 per cent in the medium term.
