Heidelberg Materials and Pronto have officially deployed an autonomous haulage system following a successful trial.

The two companies collaborated in a 2023 trial of Pronto’s AHS at Heidelberg Materials’ Bridgeport, Texas, site. Following the success of the trial, Pronto’s AHS system will be deployed at Heidelberg Materials’ Lake Bridgeport, Texas quarry.

The Lake Bridgeport deployment will use Komatsu HD605-8 haul trucks and integrate Komatsu’s Smart Quarry Site. With the Pronto AHS and Komatsu’s Smart Quarry Site, operators at the Lake Bridgewater site will be able to access enhanced data collection and analysis, which will help improve safety and productivity.

According to Pronto, the AHS works by using advanced sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence to autonomously operate haul trucks in quarries.

“Heidelberg Materials and Pronto are committed to leading the industry into a new era of efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility through the deployment of this innovative technology,” the company said.
