Fletcher Building has confirmed three key appointments to its executive leadership team as the company enters a new era.
Andrew Reding will take on the top job as group chief executive officer and managing director. Mr Reding will commence as a director on August 22, and will assume the role of group chief executive officer and managing director from September 30.
“Following an extensive global search, I am pleased to confirm Andrew Reding as [group chief executive officer and managing director] of Fletcher Building, and a Director of Fletcher Building Industries Limited,” Fletcher Building acting chair Barbara Chapman said.
“The board is pleased to have secured a [group chief executive officer and managing director] of Andrew’s calibre, experience and respect in the market. His deep understanding of the sectors we operate in, coupled with his knowledge of Fletcher Building, make him the ideal executive to lead the group at this time.
“Andrew is a highly experienced business leader who has held numerous key operational leadership roles in the construction materials and building products sectors over the past 35 years, including 11 years at Fletcher Building. He is an industry veteran who brings a unique combination of skills and experience, and a performance and values mindset.”
Fletcher Building has also confirmed that Will Wright has been appointed as the group chief financial officer, and Haydn Wong has been appointed as the group general counsel and company secretary.
The New Zealand-based Fletcher Building has several subsidiaries, including Winstone Aggregates, Golden Bay Cement, Firth, and Humes in its cement division. It also has a strong presence in the residential, development, and construction sectors.
Winstone Aggregates is one of the largest aggregate producers in New Zealand with 11 extractive quarries, two joint venture quarries, four clean fills, six labs and 80 bulk trucks.
“I am pleased to have two such experienced and results-driven leaders join Fletcher Building,” Nick Traber, acting chief executive for Fletcher Building, said.
Wright returned to the company after spending nearly seven years at Fletcher Building previously. Previously, he was chief financial officer for the residential and development division before becoming the general manager for group strategy and then the chief financial officer of the building products division. Wright rejoined Fletcher Building after a stint at Summerset Group Holdings, where he served as chief financial officer and general manager for corporate services.
“Will is a performance-focused executive with a breadth of relevant experience in senior finance, strategy, portfolio and investment roles across the building materials, land development and financial services sectors. He is also very familiar with Fletcher Building. As such, we are delighted to welcome him back to the company in the Group CFO role,” Traber said.
Wong is appointed to the group general counsel role after acting in the capacity since April 2024 for Fletcher Building. Haydn was a senior corporate partner at Bell Gully with an extensive track record in advising on corporate governance, M&A and securities transactions, private equity transactions and insurance and financial services
“Haydn has made a strong contribution to the Executive team since he joined in April. His commercial expertise, as well as strong transactional experience, have been, and will continue to be, important as we navigate the Group’s immediate priorities and over the longer term,” Traber said.
Wong starts his role immediately while Wright will begin his new role on November 18.
