Australian company Delta Group has been shortlisted for a global demolition award which could see it crowned among the world’s best later this year.
Delta Group’s NSW team has been nominated in the Urban Demolition category at the 2024 Demolition Awards, which will be held in Sweden in November. The team was shortlisted for its work on the Department of Lands building project, which saw almost all demolition works, including load-out, undertaken manually.
The Delta Group NSW team managed heritage protection, confined spaces, archaeological works, mass cement jack-arches, and low-capacity suspended floors in the project.
“Our NSW team overcame some pretty big challenges to successfully deliver the programme, including unique structural materials such as coke breeze and ferro-concrete,” the company posted.
“It’s no surprise to learn their work has just been shortlisted for the 2024 World Demolition Award in the Urban category. Congratulations team.”
The urban demolition award category is judged against criteria including impact minimisation, neighbourhood relations management and client satisfaction.
Other factors that are considered include the complexity and demanding nature of the project, the control of noise, pollution, and disturbance, and the project’s delivery on time, on budget, and safely.
The World Demolition Awards will be held from November 7 in Stockholm, Sweden.
