Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has officially unveiled its strategic plan through to 2026 and an updated constitution.

It follows Michael Kilgariff, chief executive officer at Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA), hinting earlier this year about this year, which would set a new direction for the organisation.

The new strategic plan covers the 2024-2026 period and includes major focus areas, including advocacy, sustainability, and decarbonisation aims, as well as a key focus on sustainable access to raw materials.

“Our new strategic plan and constitution set the foundation for a more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable CCAA. We acknowledge the support and role of the CCAA Council and members in the development and approval of the new strategy and constitution,” Kilgariff said.

“These initiatives are designed to strengthen the organisation’s advocacy efforts, enhance member inclusivity, and promote sustainability across the sector.”

According to the organisation, the new strategic plan and updated constitution reinforce its commitment to its core values. These include being an influential leader in the industry, a collaborative partner, a dedicated advocate, and a champion of sustainability.

Kilgariff said the changes will enable the CCAA to enhance its ability to represent and serve its members.

“The updated constitution introduces a more democratic framework, giving members a greater voice in decision making,” he said.

“The previously complex committee structures have been simplified and replaced by the National Industry Committee and the Sustainability & Technical Committee, supported by the State Committees, allowing for more efficient operations and better alignment with the industry’s current and future needs.

“These changes reflect our commitment to being an influential leader and advocate for the heavy construction materials industry, while championing sustainability at every level.”

KEY FOCUSES OF 2024-2026 STRATEGIC PLAN:

1) Advocacy & Reputation: CCAA is committed to strengthening its role as the voice of the heavy construction materials industry. The plan aims to align the industry’s narrative with national challenges, ensuring that cement, concrete, and aggregates are recognised for their essential role in Australia’s infrastructure.

2) Sustainability & Decarbonisation: With sustainability at the forefront of global industry trends, CCAA will lead efforts to decarbonise the sector. This includes the implementation of the Cement & Concrete Industry Decarbonisation Facilitation Plan, which sets clear targets for reducing emissions and advancing environmentally friendly practices.

3) Resource Access & Efficient Logistics: Ensuring sustainable access to raw materials is a key priority for CCAA. The Strategic Plan focuses on optimising the supply chain and addressing logistical challenges to secure the continued supply of critical materials required for Australia’s growing infrastructure needs.
