Holcim New Zealand will expand into New Zealand’s South Island after acquiring ready-mix concrete assets of WeMix Wanaka.

WeMix Wanaka is a family-owned business based in the Otago region of the South Island with a strong reputation for its ready-mix concrete and concrete solutions.

The agreement, which sees Holcim New Zealand take over the lease and acquire the ready-mix concrete assets of the family-owned business, is Holcim’s first branded operation in the South Island region.

Michael Miller, executive general manager of Holcim New Zealand, said Holcim is committed to maintaining the same standard of service, enhanced by its innovations, resources, and expertise.

“WeMix Wanaka has built a strong reputation in Central Otago, and we are excited to welcome and integrate their business into the Holcim family,” he said.

“The purchase and expansion allows us to solidify our presence in the South Island, strengthening our commitment to innovative, sustainable building solutions across New Zealand, while continuing the high-quality service customers have come to expect from WeMix.”

Holcim’s latest expansion in the New Zealand construction materials market builds on its moves last year. In 2023, the company confirmed that it would operate 20 ready-mix plants in the North Island and Ashby’s Ready Mixed in Christchurch.
