The Lippmann 1200j heavy-duty mobile crusher’s ease of maintenance provides quarries with peace of mind from Tricon Equipment.

Cailean Woods, one of the company’s sales managers, told Quarry that there’s one aspect at the front of mind for almost every quarry customer – downtime.
“Downtime is everything,” he said. “If the customers’ equipment is down, they’re not making money – they’re losing money, effectively.”
One of the ways of minimising unscheduled downtime is to make maintenance as easy as possible, which is exactly what the Lippmann 1200j heavy duty mobile crusher has been designed for. Lippmann engineers have optimised the material flow and jaw chamber design for high productivity.
The crusher boasts a 1905mm deep jaw chamber to handle some of the toughest applications in mining and aggregates.
Woods said customers have benefited from the user-friendly design that assists with troubleshooting.
“The Lippmann 1200j has a couple of standout features includes, like a really good hydraulic system. We wanted to keep things simple by using hydraulic levers.
“Another great feature is the reversible jaw,” he said.
“That means if a piece of rock gets stuck in the crusher, instead of needing to shut the machine down, have someone climb in and try to remove the obstruction, you can just put it in reverse to break it up into smaller segments and continue crushing.”
The crusher has a single toggle jaw, which allows quarries to quickly and easily switch out the jaw if needed.
The hydraulic equipment was also chosen to ensure operators can quickly and easily detect potential faults without the need to shut down the equipment and run a full diagnostic process.
Tricon also takes safety very seriously, and has ensured the crushers comes equipped with the right guards, battery isolators, fire extinguishers and more
Woods said Tricon offers a full risk assessment before the machine is put into operation.
“Once we deliver a machine, we will also do a full day’s training or stay with the customer until their team knows all of the safety elements,” he said.
“Operating machinery like this in a quarry comes with risks, so we make sure that everybody’s fully prepared and trained about how to use the equipment.”
In addition, Tricon has a dedicated service team made up of industry veterans. They understand how the machinery is built and have done plenty of troubleshooting across decades of experience.
It also has a spare parts warehouse located in Warnervale, NSW, to ensure it can get the right parts to where they are needed.
Woods said the company plans to continue growing its offering for the quarry market.
“We’re starting to stock a lot more inventory in terms of our full crushing and screening spread,” he said.
“That’s increased our capabilities for our hire fleet as well. We have our own floats and ca deliver them quickly and cost effectively, so we don’t have to outsource transport.” •
