Holcim Australia has supported the next stage of the major New South Wales infrastructure project, the Sydney Metro.

Recently, the project marked the one-year anniversary of the opening city section of the Sydney Metro line. Now, works have progressed on the next stage of the project which includes the Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package.

Holcim Australia has worked with John Holland, CPB Contractors, Ghella and Kenny Constructions Concrete to complete a major 3,042m³ continuous cavern concrete pour to finish the station cavern invert. The pour was completed in 63 hours, which is nine hours faster than previously expected, especially for a pour of this scale.

Holcim Australia’s NSW team supported several key facets of this project including operational support, transport, technical support, project and customer support. The concrete supply was sourced from Alexandria, Artarmon and Lidcombe with more than 20 Holcim team members working across different departments and more than 70 drivers tasked with delivering materials safely and efficiently.

“This success was the result of extensive planning and collaboration, with multiple pre-pour meetings focused on logistics, truck movements, driver changeovers, and overall readiness,” Holcim Australia posted.

“It’s not just one of the biggest continuous pours Sydney has seen in years — it’s a showcase of what seamless coordination, technical expertise, and dedicated people can achieve.”
