Humes has confirmed a key milestone has been reached as part of the Bowen Road Bridge Duplication project in Townsville.
The final girder for the project has been completed in partnership with ALBEM Operations. In total, 1500 T girders have been made, weighing around 60 tonnes each and 27.5 metres long.
Humes area manager Leigh Shaw said it was a major milestone for the Humes Townsville team.
“It takes many hands to do what we do, and I want to thank everyone involved in this project. From the boots-on-ground production team, to engineering and project support, through to delivery coordination – we have the best people to get the job done,” he said.
The Bowen Road Bridge Duplication project will support a new upstream crossing over the Ross River, which will be expanded from two lanes to four. The project will also upgrade lighting, CCTV, and pathway connections as well as pedestrian and bike crossings.
