Tarmac has announced two strategic appointments to enhance its commitment to the UK’s renewable energy and nuclear sectors.

Kate Rudman and Will Pearson have joined Tarmac as wind solutions director and nuclear commercial director, respectively. The pair will help Tarmac’s work within the growing renewable energy and nuclear sector in the UK.

Rudman has worked extensively in offshore wind and renewable projects including senior roles with developers and consultants. She had a key role in floating and fixed-bottom offshore wind projects across the UK and internationally.

“Having previously looked at projects from an early stage, it is exciting to be part of the supply chain, realising those projects and providing solutions. The supply chain plays a huge role in delivering these large-scale projects and offering real carbon reductions,” Rudman said.

“Tarmac is uniquely positioned to support offshore renewables projects at every stage, from port infrastructure upgrades to foundation materials and onshore civils works. We are keen to engage early with developers, to provide solutions that reduce project risks, minimise environmental impact, optimise material use, and support circular economy principles. I’m excited to be part of a team that’s actively driving innovation in low carbon solutions for renewable energy.”

Pearson has worked for decades in the nuclear sector and has a background in engineering consultancy, business strategy and new nuclear technologies. Pearson will be focused working with Tarmac’s specialist materials and aligning it with the nuclear sector’s needs.

“Nuclear power is a cornerstone of the UK’s net zero ambitions, and with major projects on the horizon, the industry has a unique opportunity to build with sustainability at its core,” Pearson said.

“Tarmac’s experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure, coupled with its commitment to lower-carbon solutions, means we can provide safer, more cost effective, and more sustainable construction materials for nuclear developments. I look forward to working with clients to integrate innovative materials that reduce environmental impact while meeting the exacting performance standards of the nuclear industry.”

Tarmac national business development director Alex Wright said the company was excited to add Rudman and Pearson’s expertise.

“With Kate and Will on board, we can provide even more specialist direction to our clients, ensuring they benefit from lower carbon, durable materials that support net zero targets,” he said.

“Their expertise will help us strengthen relationships across the renewable energy and nuclear sectors, allowing us to engage earlier in the project lifecycle and develop tailored solutions that drive real impact.”
