The Tasmanian Government has launched Building Tasmania, a new central agency dedicated to delivering major infrastructure projects across the state.
Construction costs increased 1% in the June quarter, according to Cotality’s Cordell construction cost index. While this is steeper than the 0.2% rise in the March quarter, the annual cost growth rate of 2.8% remained below that of the corresponding quarters in 2025.

Australian construction company Built has been awarded the contract to build the new 11-storey Innovation Centre at Lot Fourteen in South Australia, to be known as Defence HQ. It will be a focal point for defence, space, and critical technologies and support the AUKUS project.
Applications are open till 14 August 2026 for Western Australia’s $10M Construction Training Fund’s (CTF) Capital Grant Program to strengthen the state’s construction workforce via investment in training infrastructure for private Registered Training Organisations to aid transition to a low‑carbon economy.
