Following the completion of new foundation piling works on the new bridge, pier piles are being cut down to the design level and steelwork for pile caps is underway.

The Violet Street Bridge project tender was awarded in November 2025 to Saunders Civilbuild due to its having delivered a number of bridges within the local region over the past several years, according to Narrabri Shire Council.
The Violet Street Bridge replacement project involves the removal of the existing 1975-built bridge and replacing it with a concrete and steel reinforced structure featuring unrestricted load capacity, dual lanes, shared pathways on both sides, and upgraded road approaches.
Currently, the piers from the old bridge, which were used to support the temporary pile guide frames, are being demolished this month. This will be followed by construction of the pile caps, blade piers, and the abutment at the Selina Street end of the bridge will take place.
This is expected to take around six weeks after which will be the construction of the headstocks and placement of the girders.
Construction of the new Violet Street Bridge is anticipated to be completed by the end of September 2026, depending on weather and other factors that may affect the timeline, according to the local council.
