The contract to progress the planning and design development of Perth’s Entertainment and Sporting Precinct has been awarded.
Causeway Link Alliance, comprising Civmec Construction and Engineering, Seymour Whyte, WSP Australia, and Main Roads WA, was awarded the contract.
The announcement comes in the wake of the opening of the pedestrian/cyclist river crossing, Boorloo Bridge, that was completed by the Alliance after a 20-month build.
The WA Government said the Alliance will now work closely with the state’s Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery to progress the planning and detailed design of the precinct in Burswood on the south-eastern bank of the Swan River opposite the city’s CBD.
The precinct already features a stadium, racecourse and casino; the contract includes a new outdoor amphitheatre for live music and other events, with 15,000-20,000 capacity; multi-use track, including for use by FIA-approved Supercars, cycling road race circuit; multi-use building for events; improved transport and connectivity with Optus Stadium and the wider precinct; and enhancement of the local environment including an urban forest.
Between now and early 2026, project approvals and early works are expected following planning and design. Construction work is expected to occur in early 2026 or 2027.
