Mineral processing technology company Zeotech and Cement Australia have executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The understanding is committed to the decarbonisation of Australia’s building materials sector, and is dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Cement Australia general manager of sales, marketing, and risk Phil Halpin said that the MOU is a significant decision for either party.
“Cement Australia is pleased to enter this agreement with Zeotech. The company’s high-grade kaolin has strong potential as a viable feedstock for producing high-reactivity metakaolin,” he said.
“Our planned technical assessment of AusPozz will focus on validating its performance as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) for low-carbon concrete applications. In parallel, Cement Australia will undertake a detailed evaluation of the infrastructure and end-to-end supply chain requirements.”

Both parties have agreed to exchange information and test results to ensure the completion of the AusPozz product’s technical ad value assessment. This is alongside an evaluation of Cement Australia’s infrastructure and supply chain options, subject to confidentiality provisions.
Zeotech executive director Shane Graham said that the company is pleased to be partnering with one of Australia’s largest suppliers of building materials.
“The MOU provides a framework for ongoing collaboration aimed at accelerating the development of AusPozz and evaluating pathways toward commercial-scale production,” he said.
“This partnership represents an important step of high-performance, low-carbon construction materials.”
Zeotech has previously supplied Cement Australia with samples of high-reactivity metakaolin and raw Toondoon Kaolin to assess their suitability for use in concrete applications with Cement Australia products.
The MOU may be terminated by either party with 30 days’ written notice, or otherwise will expire on 1 June 2026.
