Ahead of the Bulk Handling Technical Conference and Expo, Quarry sat down with Siobhan Rocks to learn exactly what’s in store.
What is BULK2026?
On September 16-17 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Bulk Handling Technical Conference and Expo (BULK2026) will once again bring the biggest names, brightest minds, and the most innovative technologies under the same roof.
The event is really about industry experts coming together and taking part in an amazing technical conference.
Because we’ve got all those industry experts under one roof, and a number of exhibitors, attendees can learn about all the latest innovations in the field and be exposed to the latest products to make their operations more efficient. Whether it is grain in New South Wales or coal in Mackay, BULK2026 is about giving insights into the industry and showcasing the latest and greatest technology that is available.
What can attendees expect at BULK2026?
We’re returning to a technical conference format as our point of difference this year.
When we ran the previous BULK2024, it was primarily an exhibition, so we had a great number of exhibitors demonstrating their products. But in 2026, we are getting back to what we think is the most important thing for a bulk handling event, which is to focus on the technical conference.
We are being guided by the Australian Society of Bulk Solids Handling and TUNRA Bulk Solids, who are going to curate the program. BULK2026 is really about the content first, supported by the exhibition.
We felt it was important to bring of bulk handling experts together in an event where they can learn about the latest innovations and feel a sense of community within the sector.
Why should the quarry sector attend?
Despite being a bulk handling event at its core, we are working alongside associated sectors like grain and quarry because we know the bulk handling industry is integral to construction, quarrying, and aggregates.
How will BULK2026 compare with previous events?
It’s really the reintroduction of the technical conference that will take centre stage in 2026. We are providing people a reason to come that’s going to deliver great professional development opportunities.
So, we’re focusing on professional development as well as the presentation of technical papers so that attendees can see the solutions and innovations that are being applied within the industry.
What about BULK2026 excites you the most?
We’re really excited to have the event co-located with MEGATRANS.
Despite being different events, we know that supply chain logistics and the bulk handling communities are really interconnected and important sectors within Australia.
We are also excited to change what we’re doing from a networking perspective.
For the first time ever, we are going to have a dedicated network evening, so there’s even more of an incentive for people from different sectors, such as quarries, to attend and build their professional networks in other key sectors like bulk handling.
BULK2026 is more than just an event. It’s an opportunity for people in the quarry sector to learn about new innovations and technologies, and to network and build strong relationships with people who can help each other strive for greatness. •
