More than 100 guests gathered at the Kinder Australia Braeside office recently to celebrate a milestone for one of Australia’s long-standing bulk materials handling specialists: 40 years in business.

Suppliers, distributors, customers, and industry partners travelled from across Australia and overseas for the anniversary event, highlighting the company’s strong connections throughout the global bulk handling and mining sectors.

Chief executive officer Charles Pratt described the evening as a powerful reminder of the relationships that have shaped Kinder’s journey.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the turnout tonight,” Pratt said. “It’s been awesome to see. I think we’ve got over 100 people here tonight and from all around the world. We have suppliers, distributors, customers, business partners, mentors, old and new customers, it’s a real mixed bag and it’s wonderful.”

While the anniversary marks four decades of operations, Pratt noted that the company’s success has been built on long-term industry commitment and a deep understanding of customer needs.

“Reflecting on 40 years, the business is a lot older than me,” he said. “I personally really enjoy and love working here at Kinder for the 21 years I’ve been in the industry. It’s a great place.”

Since its founding in 1985, Kinder Australia has grown into a well-known provider of engineered solutions for bulk materials handling, supplying components and technologies designed to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability across conveyor systems.

According to Pratt, a major focus for the company has been addressing one of the industry’s persistent challenges: dust management.

“We’ve added a lot of value to the industry,” he said. “We’re really passionate about what we do and why we’re doing it. We’ve shifted the focus heavily on dust and safety, and I think that’s going to be the future for Kinder in the short and long term.”

Dust control and workplace safety have become increasingly important across mining, quarrying, and bulk materials handling operations, with operators under growing pressure to reduce environmental impacts and improve working conditions.

Pratt believes innovation, rather than simply following market trends, will continue to define Kinder’s role in the sector.

“If we keep applying that ethos, and applying our values, number one at the top of everything is innovation,” he said. “We’re not interested in being a me-too company, supplying what everybody else is supplying. We’ve got no interest in doing that.”

Instead, he said the company’s long-term success has come from a clear focus on solving real operational problems for customers.

“Focusing on the customer has been a key contributor to the success of the company,” Pratt said. “You need to make sure that you’re solving their problems, not just doing things for the sake of it, and really understanding what the customer wants and needs and designing solutions. That’s going to keep you in the business, and what has stood the test of time for more than 40 years.”

With four decades behind it, Kinder Australia is already looking ahead to the next phase of its journey.

Pratt said the company’s strong team and continued commitment to innovation position it well for the future.

“This year is looking very promising,” he said. “We’ve got all the people on the bus, and we’ve got the right people on the bus. We’re going to turn it into a frame and then a rocket and we’re going to take off.”

For an industry built on reliability and long-term partnerships, Kinder’s 40-year milestone reflects not just longevity, but a sustained commitment to innovation and customer-focused engineering solutions.
