Ritchie Bros. has expanded its presence in the Australian market following its acquisition of Smith Broughton Auctioneers and Allied Equipment Sales.
Ritchie Bros, which is part of the RB Global group, will welcome the Smith Broughton and Allied Equipment Sales teams to its global network, pending satisfaction of the closing conditions.
Ritchie Bros. vice president of international sourcing Finlay Massey said the transaction will expand the company’s national footprint in growing markets.
“Smith Broughton is a respected leader with deep roots in Western Australia,” he said.
“By bringing these businesses into the Ritchie Bros. network, we’re strengthening our national capabilities, connecting local expertise with our global marketplace, and delivering greater value and reach for Australian equipment owners.”
Located in Western Australia, Smith Broughton Auctioneers will continue to operate under its established name. Ritchie Bros has indicated that customers will experience a seamless transition, with no changes to current operations or staff.
“This partnership represents the best of both worlds — global scale combined with local service,” Smith Broughton Auctioneers managing director Darren Smith said.
“For more than 40 years, our customers have trusted us to deliver reliable results with integrity. Joining Ritchie Bros. enables us to continue that legacy while opening the door to new markets and opportunities.”
With the integration of Smith Broughton Auctioneers, Ritchie Bros can provide a wide range of solutions for customers looking to buy and sell equipment in multiple sectors. It also complements Ritchie Bros’ global expertise in the civil, mining, and transport sectors. Together, the combined group conducts approximately 155 auctions annually across Australia, supported by a national team of more than 100 employees.
“Our combined capabilities create a powerful platform for customers,” Ritchie Bros. international general manager Ghislaine Duijmelings said.
“From local businesses in Western Australia to multinational mining operators, sellers can now access the world’s largest marketplace for industrial assets — supported by local expertise and a shared commitment to excellence.”
